Dr. Barry Helfmann is Managing Partner of Short Hills Associates in Clinical Psychology. He received his doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology from the Graduate School of Applied and Professional Psychology, Rutgers University. He is a Diplomate in Clinical Psychology awarded through the American Board of Professional Psychology. He is also a Distinguished Fellow of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, and a Certified Group Psychotherapist.
Dr. Helfmann specializes in the treatment of depression, anxiety, and personality disorders, especially with regards to relationship issues. He currently leads two adult psychotherapy groups. He has written extensively in the areas of group psychotherapy, professional clinical practice, and health care reform. He currently serves as Director of Professional Affairs for the New Jersey Psychological Association one day per week.
Dr. Helfmann has served as President of the New Jersey Psychological Association, President of the New Jersey Group Psychotherapy Association, Chairman of the National Board of Certified Group Psychotherapists, Secretary of the American Group Psychotherapy Association, and Chairman of the Annual Conference of AGPA, 2008-2012. He was awarded Psychologist of the Year from the New Jersey Psychological Association.
